The way I see entertainment business ten months later


After ten months doing my master degree in entertainment business is funny how my perspective of seeing things have change. I have being in concerts, traveling with J Alvarez, and working with social media, and I have to say that every time I am in one of those places new ideas jump on in my mind on how I can do a better job if I was the manager of the event or an artist manager. Recently I travel with J Alvarez to New York for the Puerto Rican Parade and I notice some irregularities during the parade and the shows that J Alvarez had. First of all the logistic to move J Alvarez’s staff from one place to another was bad. The bus that was rented to transport J Alvarez’s staff never came on time. On two occasions my cousin had to take the staff and me to the events because the bus never came to pick us up. This issue shows that the people responsible for the traveling of J Alvarez’s staff were not organize. This kind of issue can create major problems in the future if not corrected because if the events were very important and the staff cannot get to event on time it will create a major caos for the event manager. Most people could not see it, but I did see the importance of the logistic traveling be accurate and responsible.
I see entertainment business as the picture behind small frames of a big puzzle. In order to be success in the entertainment business is important to pay attention to small details. Small details can be the difference between a excellent job or loosing your job. After ten months of hard working months, weeks, and days learning and studying entertainment business, I had understand that it takes more than just than luck to be successful in business so sophisticated and demanding as the entertainment business is.

How digital marketing became part of our life

In the music world, there are many ways to get notice by music lovers and labels executives. Every day we listen new stories about a new artist that became famous when a record label listen to their music thru a social network, or the song that became popular thru the Internet and spread all over the world. Either way, the spreading words that these examples can have are a repercussion directly and indirectly of digital marketing. Now days if you have a website, social networks, or being a subscriber of a music website, you can become a marketing agent for a friend that wants to spread his music.
Many of the biggest names in the reggeaton music became famous and rich by marketing their music thru digital platforms. This is a tendency that many new artists have adopted in order to get notice. The advantage of this tendency is that artist does not spend too much money marketing their music, but instead they just post their music in different digital platform where they can get notice by other listeners to create the necessary buzz to start a career as an artist. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and SoundCloud have become an allied force for new artist to spread their music. In my experience working in the Urban Latin music, Twitter is a lethal weapon to marketing not only the music, but also important events and announcement to your followers and fans. Every retweet a follower give to an artist, the more opportunity an artist have to reach new people.

Digital marketing have become a weapon for record companies to share their new products or projects. Companies can take advantage of digital marketing if they can work with the new trends that digital marketing can present. Either way any person with the capacity to comprehend the way music is getting marketing now days can open doors to get their music notice.
